NOAA SCIENTISTS PARTICIPATE IN SNOW STUDY TO IMPROVE WATER, WEATHER AND CLIMATE FORECASTS

For a second year, NOAA will join university students and scientists from five federal agencies in the Cold Land Processes Field Experiment in the Colorado Rockies to study snowpacks from the ground, air and space. The objectives of this experiment are to better understand water, weather and climate in cold land areas. CLPX will also assist in developing more effective remote sensing techniques to study and monitor the nation’s snow covered landscapes.

NOAA’s PARTICIPATION IN RADIO AND INTERNET FOR THE COMMUNICATION OF HYDRO-METEOROLOGICAL AND CLIMATE RELATED INFORMATION PROGRAM

NOAA’s participation in the RANET program paves a way for rural and resource-poor populations to access information, while improving the capacities of foreign meteorological and related services. One of the main challenges to enhancing the ability to plan and respond to climate fluctuations is access to relevant climate and weather information. Through its partners, the RANET program seeks to ensure the equitable access and distribution of climate and weather information for social and economic benefit.
